Exposition on Prelude: Cloud
(I'm doing Weds. entry early because I will not be able to update the FFS Companion tomorrow morning.)

Today marks the entrance of angsty, dark, Kingdom Hearts Cloud, complete with awesome-looking tattered cape and black gargoyle wing (which I'm sure alludes to something in Advent Children, but then again, maybe not). Cloud is an absolute (meanie) in this page--shoving around little children and making snotty remarks to a pretty female. Well, given what his life was like, I guess we can give him a little leeway. Hey, don't complain to me--Cloud wasn't my character!

Cloud's cape was a lot of fun to draw--especially the tattered cape. The curse cloud is seen again. Rinoa's shiny hair makes a return. Meanwhile, the pose Cloud makes in the first panel of the last line deserves to be set on fire. XP

Today's favorite panel: Cloud's snarly face in the bottom middle panel--it's just so witheringly good!
Today's Colors: Midnight Blue--Cloud
Today's Crowd: (still being respectful to all authors) a Ronso, two of the FFS Crew, and the alien Pu thing again.

As easy as 1, 2, 3
Though the site counter image itself still needs to be editted properly, it is counting our visitors. I put the counter up on Saturday, and we've had 6o visitors since then. So about 2o-3o people each day. Wow. *blinks* You mean people are actually reading the comic?

I think I'll go cry of happiness now. ^_^
Exposition on Prelude: Zidane Again
Ah yes, the best pencil shaded page yet! Look how shiny Rinoa's hair is! Look at the realistic wrinkles in Auron's clothes! Look at --!
--Zidane sulk?

Zidane definitely ran away with the varity of expressions award again in this page. He sulks on line one, looks a lot like his game counterpart on line two, and is down right funyn on line three. And line three's final panel takes my vote for favorite expression/panel. I just laughed so much when I finished it. The thought of Zidane in the Airship's control room is too much! Heh.

Links, HTMLing
I've added on a new link--"Working Title". My friend BB (who is also one of the FFS Crew like I am) makes music videos using well-known animes and video games (including, yes, Final Fantasy!). Have Real Player ready--you won't be able to see it otherwise.

Want to add an Final Fantasy site link? Then drop me a line at ffscomic@yahoo.com

Also, I'm looking for someone that can help me make a navigation drop down menu for the site, and possibly a counter. I already have someone working to make the site look better (yes, he is of the FFS Crew also), but if you have some ideas, again, email me at ffscomic@yahoo.com
One More Thing
Just in case you haven't heard yet--look at this.

Since we are a Final Fantasy comic, I figured we stay informed about Final Fantasy. ^_^
Exposition on Prelude:Auron
Yay, the advent of pencil shading! Everything looks much better from this point on, although this is still one of those testing pages, because I was still using ink for the hair instead of pencil, ick.

Today's page is better than yesterday's, but it still has its bad moments *stabs at Auron's awful hair in the 5th panel*. I also learned that Auron's a slightly difficult character to draw. Not complicated, mind, just difficult. Because he rarely shows emotion, I have to work hard to get across what emotions he does show, without boring anyone. This is also complicated by the face that, not only does he have that famous scar across his eye, but he's also missing half his eyebrow on that eye (s'truth, check out the official art sometime). So his face always looks lopsided and I'm always ready to chunk anything with Auron on it out the window.

But, with everything, drawing Auron just takes time and practice.

Pencil shading. Isn't it gorgeous? Everything looked so much better with them, including hair and cloth wrinkles. That's the one thing about Auron (or any of them, really) that I like drawing--the wrinkles. You have to be careful, though--there's a fine line between the wrinkles looking good and looking horrid.

Today's favorite panel: Despite the awful faces, I'll go with the panel that shows Auron yanking Zidane by his tail. The shading and the notion of yanking Monkey Boy around by his tail is just funny.
Today's Colors: Crimson-maroon--Auron
Today's Crowd: (with respectful copyrights to all authors, as always) two of the FFS crew, my old boss, a Ronso, ChiChi/GiGi the monkey, Cactuar, someone very like Nanaki, a Pu, and the tip of Lulu's dress, heh.

And a reminder--the new schedule will be Mon-Weds-Fri-Sat, starting next Monday. So the next update won't be till Monday. See ya then!

Exposition on Prelude:Rinoa
I'll be honest right now--I do not like the way today's page was drawn. I simply do not.

Thankfully, Rinoa looks much better in later pages, but right now, when I was still in all pen only mode, she suffers. Especially the hair. *cringe* Fortunately, everything took a turn for the (much) better when I started to pencil in shadows, and those pages start tomorrow.

I don't really have a favorite panel in today's--everything was rather chibi or horribly done. At least Zell and Zidane still looked pretty clean. And oh yes, the Airship has a couch now--for as long as it lasts.

Today's Colors: Blue--Rinoa
Today's Crowd: (with copyrights to respective authors) I'm pretty sure it's called a Pu--those little blue aliens from FFViii.

Exposition on Prelude:Zidane
Well, here we are, day three and still going strong.

You may notice that each character has their own colors for both word balloons and text. We did it that way in the original story, and I thought it would be handy to care over. As soon as everyone shows up, I'll remember to present a thorough rundown of all the colors.

Today has Zidane, the other comic faced one, show up. Now, it might be dangerous to have both Zell and Zidane in the same room together, but right now, Zell's still too busy with his curse cloud (and an emoticon, too!) to notice (it's hard to see the rain that drips from his hair when it bursts, but look for it, heh).
Zidane also acts a bit different here. The writer went with a hesitant, unsure start (because of missing Garnet? Who knows?), though later, he was prompted to let Zidane become the clown of the group.

I've also learned from today's comic that the costumes are pretty fancy for a good reason--they can show the bend or motion of a character. Pretty clever. A pain in the butt sometimes, but clever. And no, this is not a manga. This is not manga quality. Thank you. Heh.

Today's Favorite Expression: Zell with his just-bursted curse cloud
Today's Colors: Orange--Zell, Yellow-Orange--Zidane
Today's Crowd: (with copyrights to respective authors) a Ronso, Lulu, a Mog/Moogle, a Burmecian, and Red Mage.

Exposition on Prelude:Zell
After tonight, I'm going to hold off on updating the site/blog until first thing in the morning.

OK, artsy exposition.
Zell is a very emotional character. As such, he gets some of the best facial expressions in this comic, next to Zidane. Already in this first set, he goes through quite the range of faces: normal, cute happy, cute embarrassed, cute angry. Cute only because it heightens his comedic factor (characters such as Auron will not get the cute edge unless the humor of the situation far outweighs the personality--and it's coming, I promise).

This also marks the first appearance of the curse cloud, denoted by a snake, dagger, skull and crossbones, and other random symbols.

I can already tell that my favorite part of drawing a comic is the constant chance to share emotion through a character.

Final note: the crowd will hold many familiar characters. Today's includes (and all copyrights to all respective authors): Red Mage, a member of the FFS Crew, a Ronso, and a Qu.

Exposition: Welcome!
MV: It technically isn't Monday yet.
Hush, you. Give it another half hour.

Anyways, here's the first official installment. FF:S has just been released on its first public group. I hope the response will be what I want it to be.

You can tell that there was a lot of tweaking going on right from the start. The original pictures were four seperate squares, each the size of a CD case. As we move on through the week, you'll notice the size will change, as will the shape.

Regardless, you can still pick on up the detail of Cid's outfit--I'm pleased. My favorite panel is the one where he is leaning out of the panel's outline. Some of the text boxes are confusing/misleading, but it gets better. The additional text at the bottom is the original written version of the story, and I believe it adds a level to the comic, so read. (It's mostly repeat in this first one, but later pages benefit from the written part.)

Happy FF:S debut!
The Eve of the Grand Opening
Here we are, the eve of Final Fantasy: Survivor's premiere. What to say, what to say?
Whee?

Ha, as you can see, I'm not much of a talker (MysteriousVoice: Lies, lies, all of it lies!), so I'll do the best I can. This Blog is meant to be a companion to FF:S, just giving you readers a chance to see what is/was going through my brain at the time of the comic's drawing.

I want to give thanks and praise to all of my FF:S Crew, the brilliant people who helped me write this entire story! Without them, this wouldn't have turned out as well as it did (and without them, I, by copyright law, couldn't really put it up, anyway, ha).
So many thanks to:
Sage: for thinking this project up in the first place.
AJeh and Zeh: for playing a convincing pair of clones.
Braidless Baka: for being totally supportive of me pulling this comic through.
Desbreko: for all the late night giggles and Cecil pointers
Domon: for making evil look so very good.
Draagul and JCBaggee: for making room for our secret character
KittyLynn, Mei, and Ohkami: for being the bubbliest trio I ever had the pleasure to write with.
Zidargh: for reminding me life still goes on.

Anyways, the first page everyone will see is the Prelude image.

Exposition on "A Prelude"
Never really did a Chapter image before, but I've seen other comics do it, and thought, why not? Anyways, Prelude gives you a chance to see who all is going to be in the comic. This image actually popped into my head easily. Cid is the host, Cid is the ringleader. He's controlling everyone, so tada! puppets.
MV: Just a puppet...what famous evil villian said that?
Tomorrow I cover Cid's entrance. So, till then...
